UFC 236 was one of the biggest events of UFC recently. Featuring two Interim title fights between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, and Israel Adesanya vs Kelvin Gastelum, it was a scorcher. Each fighter managed to deliver in their own bouts, but in the Holloway vs Poirier fight, it was Poirier who came out on top, ending Holloway’s 13-fight winning streak.
Dana White had already announced that the winner of Poirier vs Holloway would be facing Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight Championship. With such a stake added to the fight, Khabib was naturally interested in proceedings. After the fight was over, he made his own feelings about the decision of Poirier winning clear.
Khabib took to Twitter, to say that he disagreed with the results from the fight. He acknowledged the effort of both fighters and said that he respected them, while simultaneously telling Poirier that he would see him in September. He also said that he felt that the fight should have been a draw.
I don’t agree with the judges 49:46, I got a draw, my respect to both fighters, and Porier’s achievement so far cannot be denied, my congratulations Dustin, see you in September. 🦅 vs 💎

Poirier was dominant for the first two rounds, but Holloway seemingly got some momentum back the third round onwards. After the 25 minutes were done, the judges decided that Poirier had won the fight 49-46, making him the Interim Lightweight Title holder, and Khabib’s next opponent, in September, when he is supposed to return to action.
