The current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov silenced all his critics and doubters and also added legitimacy to his title claim by defeating the former two weight champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor in a dominant fashion at UFC 229 via submission due to a neck crank in the fourth round. Since then due to his post-fight antics, Nurmagomedov is currently on the sidelines awaiting a possible long-term suspension. This has in turn led to plenty of speculations with the Russian’s manager Ali Abdelaziz even claiming that his client isn’t interested in fighting Tony Ferguson, and is rather interested in big-money fights such as a potential match-up against retired boxer, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. However, in a recent turn of events, Nurmagomedov has in fact claimed that he will indeed fight Ferguson next!

Nurmagomedov is currently undefeated with a MMA record of 27-0, with 11 victories inside the octagon. He also holds notable victories over Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, Michael Johnson, Al Iaquinta, etc, apart from McGregor.

The fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson is highly anticipated and has already previously been scheduled four times before, but each time it had to be called off.

Nurmagomedov was asked by a fan in the comments section of an Instagram post about Ali’s comments and about his previous claims that he is out to create legacy and won’t chase the money fights. Nurmagomedov simply replied that his manager made those comments about him not being interested in the Ferguson fight, and they should not be confused as his own remarks. Here’s what transpired:
