The current UFC lightweight champion and adept former Sambo practitioner Khabib Nurmagomedov is apparently finally all set to take on the former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. While there has been plenty of trash talking from both sides over the years, Nurmagomedov has now settled the debate and revealed how he actually really feels about Ferguson.

Nurmagomedov last fought and defeated the former UFC interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 242. Thus, unifying the lightweight title in Abu Dhabi. He defeated Poirier via submission due to a rear naked choke in the third round. This was The Eagle’s second defense of his lightweight belt. His first title defense came back in October, 2018 when he defeated the former UFC champ champ and his heated rival “The Notorious” Conor McGregor via submission due to a neck crank at UFC 229.

It should be noted that potential fights between the duo have been booked a record four times previously and have failed to happen all four times, due to either one of the fighters pulling out due to injuries or weight cutting issues. They were last scheduled to fight at UFC 223, though, Ferguson had to pull out late due to a knee injury.

Khabib vs. Tony
Who will be victorious: Khabib or Tony?

Nurmagomedov told media portal RT Sports that he has nothing personal with Ferguson. He also believes that El Cucuy is a great fighter, and he can’t wait to fight him in April. Here’s what he had to say:

I don’t have nothing personal with him, you know? Tony is great fighter. Honestly, I don’t like him personally. I don’t understand his mind, what is inside his head but I don’t need this. I don’t need this. I’m going to focus on the fight. When the cage closes, I’m going to do my job as always. This is very important fight for UFC, for fans, for me, for Tony. That’s why we signed this agreement. I hope finally we’re going to fight in April.

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov are expected to fight each other on a UFC card on April 19th, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York.
