UFC 229 quite easily turned out to be one of the most exciting, entertaining and certainly one of the best UFC as well as MMA PPV’s of all time. The stunning event was headlined by arguably one of the most heated rivalries in the sports’ long history, i.e. a rivalry between the current UFC lightweight champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov and former UFC champ champ and global icon “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. While even after their fight, the animosity between them did not seem to end as a huge brawl followed, Nurmagomedov however, has now claimed that he can forgive and reconcile with the Irishman.
Nurmagomedov defended his title in spectacular fashion at UFC 229 against McGregor. The Russian dominated the fight from the very first round due to his wrestling and even shockingly dropped “Mystic Mac” with a big-right hand in the second round before submitting him in the fourth round via a rear-naked choke.
Nurmagomedov made these following statements about forgiving McGregor in a news conference in Moscow, Russia on Monday, where he also announced his new sponsorship deal with Gorilla Energy Drinks. Here’s what he had to say:
Everything is possible. Just as McGregor and I feuded, so we could reconcile. Who are we not to forgive one another when the Almighty forgives us? For legacy and in the sense of the money aspect, and in a sporting sense, I think the Mayweather fight is much more interesting.
