The current UFC lightweight champion Khabib The Eagle Nurmagomedov has been wanting to fight the MMA GOAT and the former UFC champ champ Georges St-Pierre for a long long time now. Nurmagomedov who had also claimed that he is also willing to fight GSP for even a potential 165 pounds title, has now openly stated that he won’t move up to face GSP at welterweight and will stay at 155.
Nurmagomedov in a recent interview given to MMA Fighting said that he won’t move up to welterweight, but will instead fight GSP at lightweight or at 160, 165 pounds. Here’s what he had to say:
I want to stay at 155. If they make 165, maybe, or 160. But in 170 I’m not big like in 155 and I know Kamaru Usman, I don’t know why you ask this question. Maybe he called you? I have a lot of fights at 155,
