After defeating Tony Ferguson in a 25-minute violent filled battle, Justin Gaethje is set to fight for the title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov before 2020, revealed their common manager in an interview with TMZ.
The news of the death of Nurmagomedov’s father sent shock waves through the MMA world. Everyone knew how close he was to his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov and could sympathize with him for his loss. The entire MMA community came together to mourn the death of the legend. His rivals like Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson brushed their differences apart and conveyed their condolences to him and his family.

Rumors of the eagle retiring were doing the rounds. But his manager Ali Abdelaziz dismissed this by revealing his next fight against Justin Geathje. Ali said that the two lightweights will fight before the end of 2020. Stylistically this is a matchup waiting to happen. Justin Gaethje’s striking abilities were on full display in his last fight, where he dismantled Tony Ferguson for the interim belt. The champ’s wrestling is the best in the game, and even Justin wouldn’t disagree. It will be interesting to see two of the best lightweights in the world to battle it out for the throne.

Khabib will not fight Conor before the latter gets some wins
After defeating Cowboy Cerrone in his much-anticipated comeback fight, Conor has been keen on getting the rematch with Khabib to get done with some unfinished business. Khabib’s manager revealed that Khabib will not fight Conor before he gets some good wins. He also placed the condition that Conor will have to fight Islam Makachev before he fights Khabib.
“Conor can go fight Nate, and Masvidal, we’re not interested in fighting him. He needs to get some wins, he needs to fight some good opponents. The only way he can fight Khabib, is by fighting Islam Makachev, and then Khabib will fight him” , he said.
Knowing the pay-per-view numbers that the fight did in UFC 229, we are sure Dana White is excited for this matchup, and so are we. It will be interesting to see if Conor is tempted to come back and give one more shot at the belt.
