UFC is trying to book Khamzat Chimaev vs Chris Weidman, according to Dana White, this is the fight that UFC is considering at this moment.

Chimaev has burst onto the UFC scene with three finishes in 66 days. “Borz” finished John Phillips with a D’arce choke in the second round of his octagon debut at UFC on ESPN 13 in July before turning around 11 days later with a first-round TKO win over Rhys McKee. The 26-year-old earned his third straight performance bonus following his one-punch KO over a 44-fight veteran in Meerschaert.

After such amazing performances, he has become a big name in the UFC and he has called out many fighters. UFC is also trying to get him some big-name fighter who may possess some threat to him. Till now all of his UFC fights have been too easy for him and CHimaev has smashed all his opponents.

Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, Chris Weidman, Conor McGregor, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz. The list of fighters called out by Khamzat Chimaev seems to grow by the week. But now one of those names uttered by the Chechen-born Swede has answered the challenge, and said he’s ready to step into the cage with “The Wolf.”

Chimaev (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) tweeted last week to tell his followers that both “Wonderboy” and Weidman had been offered fights with him, but both had turned them down.

However, former UFC middleweight champion Weidman (15-5 UFC, 11-5 UFC) hopped on Twitter early Friday morning to tell the UFC that he’s ready to take on Chimaev, and “The All American” vowed to humble the undefeated newcomer.

“This guy Chimeav needs some humbling would love to do that. January I’m in! @ufc make this happen,” he tweeted.

“Whenever you want I will smash you,” Chimaev wrote in response to Weidman. “I don’t understand why you need so long time? If you are a fighter you must always be ready.”

Dana White updated on the next move for Khamzat ahead of Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 6 card.

Dana White says the UFC has considered Chris Weidman as Khamzat Chimaev’s next opponent, but nothing is finalized.UFC President Dana White revealed in a recent media scrum on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi that Weidman is in the running as the next opponent for Khamzat.

Weidman is looking to rediscover some momentum in the UFC’s 185-pound division. The former champion has gone 2-4 inside the octagon since he lost his title to Luke Rockhold in December 2015 but picked up a much-needed unanimous decision win over Omari Akhmedov at UFC on ESPN+ 32 in August to halt a two-fight skid. While Weidman isn’t the same fighter he was when he held the UFC middleweight title five years ago he’s going to test Khamzat’s wrestling defense and provide UFC the star power they are looking for.

So this is among the new speculated fights for Chimaev in recent times. From Neil Magny, Maia, Till there’s a list of fighters on the radar for the ‘The Wolf’.
