UFC Prospect Khamzat Chimaev has made his official prediction for the highly anticipated grudge match between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. At UFC 272, Colby Covington will be facing off against his ex-best friend Jorge Masvidal. Colby and Jorge used to be best of friends before jealousy played a factor according to Colby. Both of them used to stay and train together but after Colby won the interim title, things changed and the best friend turned into bitter rivals. Now the duo will finally be able to settle the score of their rivalry in the octagon at UFC 272. The event will take place on March 5, 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States.
According to the rising welterweight prospect, Khamzat Chimaev, Colby Covington has a better chance of beating Jorge Masvidal. In speaking with ‘RT Sport‘ on YouTube, Khamzat shared his opinions when asked what he thought about the matchup and who is his favourite:
“I think they will give us a great fight. Masvidal is a slight favorite for me. But Colby is also a tough guy. He fights well. We’ll see. I think it’s 50/50″ Khamzat Chimaev stated.
I don’t care which of them wins. I am fighting Burns now, then – after beating Burns hopefully I will fight the winner of Masvidal – Covington. Because it seems like Usman has a hand injury and needs time to recover. I hope he will recover soon, so I am waiting for this guy too. Looking forward to fighting him” Khamzat Chimaev said.
Khamzat Chimaev continued:
“But for now – I think, the winner of our fight with Gilbert will fight the winner of Masvidal – Covington for the interim title. Or just for the number one contender spot. And then Usman should come back and we will fight him. This looks like a good plan to me.”
Khamzat Chimaev is now targeted to fight Gilbert Burns. The fight is not scheduled yet but the UFC is keen on making this a done deal. The fight is targeted for UFC 273. According to Khamzat Chimaev, Gilbert Burns is not a big challenge for him.
“All those numbers mean nothing,” Khamzat Chimaev told RT Sport. “To be honest, I don’t see a real challenge in him. We’ll see. Everything may happen in a fight, but I’m confident, as usual. I think I will just smash him with my skills and power. I feel that way. He might feel different, but I will go there and do what I did the last time.”
