Khamzat Chimaev says he will knock out Colby Covington in their fight

UFC’s hottest prospect Khamzat Chimaev has predicted that if he fights the top welterweight Colby Covington next then he can defeat him and also predicted that he will win by knockout. Khamzat Chimaev in his last fight fought his toughest battle to date when he faced former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. The match was a fight of the year contender and in the end, it was Khamzat who ended up getting a very close decision win over Burns. Both the fighters had rocked each other several times and brawled the entire fight till the last second. Before the fight, UFC President Dana White had stated that he would set up a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Colby Covington if Khamzat would win against Burns.

“I think if Khamzat Chimaev wins this weekend, we see him and Colby Covington next,” White said. “… So I have a fight coming up on ABC. In a perfect world, if everything plays outright, I would love to do Khamzat vs. Colby (there) if Khazmat should win on Saturday night.”

Khamzat also after his fight was asked questions about the matchup between him and Colby.

“If that guy doesn’t call the cops and if Dana White doesn’t go to jail, I will be happy to come to the fight and smash his face,” Chimaev said about Covington. “Of course [I knock him out].”

“I said everybody. I’ll fight everybody. They said [Burns] was No. 2 and Khamzat is No. 11, and the fight was nothing good for Gilbert. Who cares about that s***? We all want to fight each other and make money. We fight for our families. I don’t care who I fight. I get my money, I get my $50 Gs, I knock somebody out and I am happy.”

Khamzat Chimaev says that he will fight anybody to get the title shot

In speaking on a YouTube podcast with ‘BT Sport‘, Khamzat Chimaev said that he wants to fight for the title and he doesn’t care if has to fight with Colby to get the title shot.

“I don’t care. The guy he wants to fight, of course, I’ll fight with him. If they give me somebody else I’ll fight them. I wait for my title. Dana White said to me after this fight they gonna want to see you fight for the title.”

“He’s a tough guy – not my level. I’ll go and knock him out.”
