Israel previously informed that he would be prioritizing rest and recovery and make a return in 2027, but in the past few days in an interview with Derek Chisora, he revealed he was baiting the fans.
Khamzat Chimaev calls out Israel Adesanya
Khamzat Chimaev tweeted a couple of weeks ago that he would be undergoing a surgery after he suffered a torn ligament in his right hand in his bout against former UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. He looked to avoid surgery but it has ultimately come to it.
Both Khamzat and Israel are eyeing returns at the mega event UFC 300 taking place at Las Vegas on 13th April. Dana White has announced that UFC 300 would feature a fully stacked fight card and the names of rising star Khamzat Chimaev and former UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya must be in Dana’s mind.
Khamzat Chimaev beat Kamaru Usman via decision in UFC 294 in an impressive manner, even though some fans have doubted the victory since Usman featured on a 2 weeks notice, replacing Paulo Costa. Israel Adesanya lost to Sean Strickland in UFC 293 via unanimous decision after Sean put on a defensive boxing masterclass.
Fans have a mixed reaction to Khamzat’s shout to Dana for the bout against Adesanya. Even though fans are hyped about this bout, most of them are predicting that this bout won’t come to fruition. Khamzat’s recent bout has been in the Middleweight division but that was his second fight in this division. Thus, a fight against the former Middleweight champion might be a stretch. With Dana White yet to make a statement, many fans are still hopeful.
