ONE Championship’s latest double-header set the standard at a thrilling high as ONE Friday Fights 103 heated up Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium with 12 more bouts across Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA on 4 April.
Before ONE Fight Night 30: Kryklia vs. Knowles took over the arena, the weekly series’ main event saw Thai favorite Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai’s “Left Meteorite” wreck Ferzan Cicek in 147-pound Muay Thai action.
Cicek was up for the task as he pressed the two-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, putting him on the back foot with wild shots.
But the decorated Kulabdam was lying in wait. Cicek thought he had him right where he wanted. But as he stepped in, Kulabdam’s famous left hook came out and the Turk was sent crashing down at 2:11 of the first round.
Elsewhere in the night’s featured bout, Avatar PK Saenchai showed he still has the goods to be a major player as he upset America’s Kendu Irving in bantamweight Muay Thai.
Avatar had his back against the wall after a string of setbacks, and he refused to take another backstep because of it. He poured out relentless pressure, allowing him to attack Irving with brutal leg kicks.
Avatar’s gas tank was far from empty in the second round, too, using it to pin Irving against the ropes before scoring with a series of knees and elbows.
The Thai veteran remained in control in the final frame, earning the unanimous decision win all while banking a milestone 100th victory of his career.
