He needed three more close rounds once again but Lamnamoonlek Tded99 finally got one back from Kongsuk Fairtex.
The Tded99 representative evened the score against his old tormentor by taking a hard-earned unanimous decision win in their 137-pound Muay Thai main event of ONE Friday Fights 105 on April 18 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Fresh off a stinging split-decision loss to the same man in February, Lamnamoonlek made sure to avoid the same pitfalls against the Fairtex fighter as he turned to his diverse toolkit to get the victory this time.
The former WMC World Champion landed the clearer blows against a highly aggressive Kongsuk, connecting on elbows and boxing combinations to counter his compatriot’s belligerence.
But it wasn’t until he successfully incorporated his body kicks to his point of attack in the third round when Lamnamoonlek finally started to create some separation from the two-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion and went ahead in the scorecards for good.
The win improved Lamnamoonlek to 104-30 for his career, taking his first win in the promotion in the process.
In the featured bout of the evening, Mohammad Siasarani got back on the winning track by taking a razor-close split decision win over Chinese sensation Liu Mengyang in their featherweight kickboxing bout.
Siasarani forced Liu to fight off his back foot, and while the Chinese man was comfortable sitting back and countering, the Iranian’s aggression certainly weighed more in this fight.
He also had answers to each time Liu found a rhythm, switching stances to give the Chinese different looks in the contest while landing some clean shots – from well-placed lead hooks to uppercuts.
After three rounds, Siasarani earned the nod from two of the three judges, effectively ending Liu’s 21-fight winning streak that included an upset win over current ONE Interim Kickboxing Featherweight World Champion Masaaki Noiri.
