In this day and age of UFC, post fight brawls and altercations are becoming an increasingly common sight. Sometimes it is between fighters who have just fought inside the Octagon and sometimes between two relatively different fighters altogether. The latest instance of the latter one was the backstage brawl between Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal.

Both Masvidal and Edwards had won their respective fights inside the Octagon this past month at UFC London. While Masvidal did an interview, he was met by the jawing of Edwards. Masvidal left the interview, walked over to Edwards, the two exchanged words and Masvidal landed punches on him before they could be separated.

Since then Edwards has been hell bent towards pressing for a fight with Masvidal. Edwards recently sat down and spoke to about what’s next for him and says he still has his sights on “Gamebred.”

“That fight has to happen, definitely that fight needs to happen,” Edwards said. “It’s either that next or I feel I deserve a top-5 opponent next, if not the world title shot. There’s not many men doing what I’m doing and beating the guys I’m beating at this level. I want to get that man [Masvidal] in the cage, but that’s just for fun, my aim is to be a world champion. So whatever gets me closer to the world title, that’s what is next for me. That’s just facts, I don’t need to put on a persona, that’s not me. I’m talking facts, it’s not trash talk, and this fight [with Masvidal] has to happen. I feel like this fight has to happen. If I see him on the street, it’s going to happen or it’s going to happen in the cage, but either way we are fighting, no matter what, we are fighting on sight. They [UFC] needs to make this fight happen just to kill the animosity a little bit, either way we are fighting, so they might as well make it in the cage.”

However, reports have been hovering about how a fight between Ben Askren and Jorge Masvidal is close to being finalised. If that is the case, then Edwards will have to wait a bit longer to get his hands at Masvidal. However, that is only the case if he wants to do so inside the Octagon.
