UFC Welterweight contender Leon Edwards has predicted that he is planning to knock Nate Diaz ‘Out Cold’ in their fight at UFC 263.
At UFC 263, Nate Diaz and Leon Edwards are set to make history as they will fighting in the first-ever non-main even non-title five-rounder fight. Edwards was expected to face Nate Diaz on May 15, 2021, in the co-headliner of UFC 262. However, the bout was moved to UFC 263 due to a minor injury sustained by Diaz. Leon faced Belal Muhammad as a replacement opponent for Chimaev. During the beginning of the second round, Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad in the eye rendering him unable to continue. The fight was declared a no-contest, snapping his 8-fight win streak.
Edwards’s last victory came against the former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of UFC on ESPN 4. He won the fight via unanimous decision which was the last victory of his 8-fight winning streak. Now Leon is set to compete in of the most important fights of his career against one of the biggest stars in the company, Nate Diaz.
Leon Edwards says he will finish Nate Diaz
Leon Edwards predicted an outcome that is possibly the hardest thing to do against Nate Diaz. Nate Diaz hasn’t been finished in a while. He wasn’t been knocked out with Mcgregor’s punches or Masvidal’s knees. Soo Leon has decided to take a task that hasn’t been done in a long time.
“I believe I’ll finish him in this fight,” Edwards said on the UFC preview. “It ends with Nate out cold and I’m victorious and I can not wait.”
“This is a great opportunity to fight Nate, but I’m leaps above him in technique, in skillset and it’s a five-round fight. He has to survive 25 minutes,” Edwards said. “This is what I love to do, this is what I chose to do. My mission is to be a world champion and a win over Nate Diaz puts me in line for a world title shot.”
Nate Diaz returned at UFC 241 and faced Anthony Pettis, he won the fight by unanimous decision. Then Diaz went on to fight Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt but lost the fight due to Doctor stoppage as he suffered a huge cut on his eyebrow and was bleeding badly. The last time Nate was stopped was against Josh Thompson. Diaz faced Josh Thomson at UFC on Fox 7. He lost the fight via TKO due to a head kick and punches as Nate’s brother, Nick Diaz threw a towel into the octagon, in an attempt to signal the referee to end the bout.
