Louis Smolka’s career with the UFC was done. There was a point where it appeared he might never fight in the UFC again. After losing 4 fights back to back, he was cut from the UFC, and it appeared he was done. However, he was not ready to admit defeat.

Outside the UFC, he fought in different promotions, and there he was able to pick up three wins. This put him in the eyes of the UFC again. Although Smolka had not been expecting it at all, he was then brought back and given a fight against Flyweight-turned-Bantamweight fighter Su Mudaerji, whom he was able to finish.

Now he is set to fight his next opponent Matt Schnell at UFC Wichita also known as UFC on ESPN+ 4.

Ahead of the fight, he talked about gaining and maintaining weight to fight at Bantamweight. Matt Schnell is once again a Flyweight fighter who moved up to Bantamweight, but that does not mean Smolka is taking him lightly.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it looked like something when I fought Paddy. Two long lanky guys, I know he likes to strike. It’s gonna look, actually not really sure, it’s going to be two long lanky sticks fighting each other. It will be like something out of Lord of the Rings.”

The fight is set to take place this weekend and will see whether Smolka can continue his winning run.
