Lucas “Mineiro” Martins hoped to be crowned the new Featherweight world champion at BRAVE 24: London. However, his plans were derailed by a dominant performance from reigning titleholder Bubba Jenkins, who got the biggest victory of his career over the Brazilian in the main event of BRAVE CF’s groundbreaking show, which provided world-class MMA entertainment to hundreds of VIP personalities from around the world.
Gracious in defeat, Lucas vowed to come back stronger, and thanked his legion of fans for all their support before, during, and after BRAVE 24: London.
“Guys, just passing by to thank for all the messages of support and to say that I’m doing well. In this sport, we work towards a result, and sometimes they are negative results. I will be back soon and I’ll keep training! The game continues and I’ll be back soon to the BRAVE cage”, claimed “Mineiro”.
A former Lightweight world titleholder, Lucas is still undecided whether to stay at Featherweight or go back up to Lightweight. Another option would be for Martins to go up further to Super Lightweight, a recently-formed weight class, with BRAVE CF being the first global promotion to approve the division, with the limit of 165lbs (74,8 kg).
“Mineiro” has fought in three different weight classes throughout his career, making the Bantamweight limit of 61,2 kg (135lbs) once, and has recently expressed an interest in testing the waters at Super Lightweight
