A recent viral video showing former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold grappling with Khamzat Chimaev has sparked controversy in the MMA community. The video, uploaded by MMA UK, appeared to show Chimaev getting the upper hand over Rockhold, leading many fans to believe that Chimaev dominated the session. However, Rockhold has come forward to deny these claims, stating that the video was misleadingly edited.
Luke Rockhold Opens up on The Edited Video With Khamzat Chimaev
In an interview with Helen Yee, Rockhold clarified the situation, explaining that the video did not accurately represent the grappling exchange between him and Chimaev. “It was literally one week away before I was supposed to fight Joe Schilling in a kickboxing match. Then Khamzat came in and they’re trying to get me to go [grapple] with him. He ended up going with me and he pulled guard and went for leg locks. I expected him to wrestle with me but they edited it to make it look like I submitted. He didn’t get me with anything…He gave up on the armbar and that was it. It wasn’t exactly the cleanest edit. People should edit things right.”
Rockhold’s comments highlight the importance of context and accurate representation in viral videos. While Khamzat Chimaev is undoubtedly a talented grappler, Rockhold’s perspective sheds light on the potential for misleading edits to create a false narrative.
The MMA community has been buzzing with reactions to the video, with many fans expressing their opinions on social media. Despite the controversy, Rockhold remains focused on his upcoming kickboxing match and continues to train diligently.
