Former UFC UFC Middleweight Champion and current Light Heavyweight contender Luke Rockhold has let out massive criticism regarding the UFC’s bonus structure for its fighters, saying that the fighters deserve much more when the company itself is worth billions of dollars.

Since 2012, each and every UFC event carries “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” bonuses, with an amount of $50K paid to the fighters. The Fight of the Night bonus pays $50K to each of the two fighters who compete in the best fight at an event, while only one fighter takes home the Performance of the Night bonus.

Aside from some occasional extra bonuses, the UFC has kept its bonus amounts unchanged for the last decade and the $50K amount is actually lesser compared to some of the past bonuses the promotion earlier offered to its fighters.

Luke Rockhold proposes the UFC bonuses increased to $200K

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Luke Rockhold ripped the UFC for not increasing the bonuses, while pointing out that the company itself has had a massive increment in its total valuation.

“F****** $50,000 bonuses going on for two decades. Like, what the f***?The valuation of the company’s going up f****** billions of dollars and we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonus checks? What the f*** is this? People need to wake up,” said Rockhold, “Remember when they were doing $100,000 bonuses when Jake Shields fought Georges St-Pierre? Now we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonuses. I mean how many billions have we gone up in valuation since that fight — and we’re still tracking backwards and they’re still f****** us on pay.”

“People need to shut the f*** up, ‘Oh, bonus $50,000!’ It’s becoming a thing. Let’s get $200,000 — $200G’s, motherf*****. That’s what you want to hear. The company needs to be reworked a little bit,” he added.

“It should gradually grow,” the 37-year-old went on, “The company, everything should grow, we should grow together. That’s how a healthy business works. When you build an unhealthy business, it just takes enough time for the f****** egg to crack and enough people to grow a f****** sack. Too bad there’s not enough of us who have a sack.”
