Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is all set for his BKFC debut and he will be taking on a former UFC fighter in Mike Perry.
Rockhold will join Bare Knuckle FC and make his 185-pound debut against Mike Perry in the main event of BKFC 41. The event, which takes place on April 29 in Denver, is broadcast live on BKFC.tv. On “The MMA Hour” on Wednesday, BKFC president David Feldman made the formal announcement of the contest.
The co-main event will be a 165-pound match between Eddie Alvarez and Chad Mendes, both UFC veterans. Rockhold, 38, left the UFC after competing at UFC 278 against Paulo Costa, where he lost on the judges’ scorecards in a bloody Fight of the Night battle. After the fight, Rockhold asked and was granted his release from the promotion, giving him access to new options.
Rockhold competed 11 times for the UFC, winning the middleweight championship by outlasting Chris Weidman at UFC 194. He will now pursue a career in combat sports separate from mixed martial arts.
The 31-year-old Perry is accustomed to gloveless combat. The 15-time UFC champion has twice battled under the BKFC name. In 2022, Perry defeated Michael Page by majority decision at BKFC 27 and Julian Lane by unanimous decision at BKFC Knucklemania 2.
