Mackenzie Dern has decided to continue as a strawweight rather than moving up in weight to fight at the flyweight division.
It certainly means that Mackenzie will be fighting at the 115 lb weight division rather than moving upto 125 lbs.Dern previously had several weight cutting issues fighting at strawweight.Infact she had missed weight on three occasions including twice in her previous promotion and her last fight against Amanda Cooper on UFC 224.
The former ADCC and no gi BJJ world champion is 7-0 in her professional MMA career and is currently 2-0 in the UFC and ranked at 15th in the strawweight division. She and her teammates are currently eyeing for a March return to the octagon.

Dern spoke to the media this Tuesday. She said,“I want to stay at strawweight.Hopefully with the help of UFC Performance Insitute it will be a lot easier and it will all be under control. If they told me it’s not good for you to fight at strawweight ,then I would move to flyweight.I have made 115 before three times so I think it’s a better weight for me.I can guarantee that I won’t miss weight again.”
Dern is one of the most sought after female MMA fighters in the world and last won his fight against Cooper at UFC 224 by dropping her with a right hand and then securing a flawless rear naked choke to put an end to the fight.
