Top Mixed Martial Arts prospect from Nagaland, Mairidin Newmai is all set to make his Matrix Fight Night debut against Mandeep Prajapati at Matrix Fight Night 11 which is set to take place at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on March 31, 2023.
A product of The Combat Academy in Nagaland, Mairidin Newmai is one of the best amateur talents in the country and the latest fighter from the Nagaland based TCA to turn professional. Mandeep Prajapati was last seen in action against Karan Singh Jadhav at MFN 7 back in 2021. Mandeep won the fight via unanimous decision.
Having competed in the competitions like GAMMA Nationals, X1 International. His most impressive victory in the MMA circuit came over Naina Mohammed at the GAMMA India MMA National Championship 2021 held in Bangalore. Naina Mohammed was on a terrific run in 2022 as he won two back to back Gold medals at the Nationals. The MMA India Show has been talking about Mairidin Newmai for quite some time now as we had consistently ranked him one of the best amateur fighters in India.

Ahead of his professional debut, The MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Mairidin Newmai about his upcoming fight at MFN 11.
How does it feel to be finally fighting at MFN? I know it was a long time coming and we at MMA India Show believed it was only a matter of time?
It’s a step closer to the big picture. It’s an honor and I feel blessed to have this opportunity. MFN is a world class organization and if not the best, then one among the best in our country. I am very grateful to the whole MFN fraternity for this opportunity.
What do you know about your opponent?
I know that Mandeep is a well rounded fighter but so am I and I truly believe that I have the better skillset in all the aspect of MMA.
How has the training been going on for the fight?
The camp is going great, this is the fastest, strongest and sharpest I have ever felt mentally and physically.
What aspects of Martial Arts are you focusing more on in leading upto this fight? Wrestling, Striking, Grappling?
I’ve always had a well rounded game and it’s the same for this fight. Its MMA and I’ll be prepared and which ever direction the fight goes, it’ll be on my terms.
Your predictions for this fight?
Nothing specific, I believe in the effort I have been putting in my preparation. But one thing I can assure you, it’ll be a MMA clinic.
