One of Assam’s rising MMA stars Manish Mahanta has finally signed a Matrix Fight Night contract after a successful stint at AIMMAA x MFN contenders which took place in Hyderabad last month.
The MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Manish Mahanta to talk about his experience at the contender series and also the opportunity to finally fight at Matrix Fight Night.

1) Tell us your journey through AIMMAA X MFN Nationals? Were you satisfied with your performance?
At AIMMA Nationals, I had a total of six fights and I won four of them. I had three knockouts, 1 win was via doctor’s stoppage and 1 was via decision and in the finals, I had some injuries and that stopped me from giving my 100%.
2) How did you feel when you signed an MFN contract?
It was a very good feeling. For all the Indian fighters, it’s a dream to participate in Matrix Fight Night and it’s the biggest platform in India and also in MMA there is no government support, so everyone would want to have a good professional career. So signing with MFN is dream come true.
3) You were also offered to fight Avizo Lanamai at MFN 10 because his original opponent suffered an injury?
Yes, I was offered the fight but I was injured and I wouldn’t have been able to give my all. So my coach Manas and manager Rupendra Sharma told me to not take the fight as I am still recovering from that injury.
Avizo Lanamai calls out Manish Mahanta
At Matrix Fight Night 10, Avizo Lanamai scored a stoppage win and immediately during the post-fight interview, he called out Manish Mahanta. The pair have previously fought each other in the amateurs and in that fight, Manish scored a brutal KO win over the Nagaland-based fighter.
In an exclusive interview with the MMA India Show, Manish Mahanta told us that he is ready to accept the fight against Avizo Lanamai at MFN 11.
“I accept his challenge,” Manish Mahanta said.
