Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk is the biggest topic in combat sports right now, and Chael Sonnen has stepped into the discussion.
The two tech billionaires recently traded shots at each other on social media and have been serious about actually locking horns in the cage. Even the UFC president Dana White has thumbed up on making the fight happen, with Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre coming forward and offering to train Zuckerberg and Musk, respectively.
One of the reasons why White has been keen to make the fight happen is because Zuckerberg vs. Musk would bring in record breaking PPV numbers.
This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world,” White said in a recent interview with TMZ. “Bigger than anything that has ever been done. It would break all pay-per-view records, these guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity. You don’t have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight. Everybody would want to see it.”
On the same notion of the fight making record PPV numbers, Chael Sonnen said on The MMA Hour that believes that the actual PPV numbers of the fight could actually be between 20-25 Million buys, as he expectes both Facebook and Twitter, the platforms of the two tech billionaires, would also be hosting the PPVs.
“You could for sure do 10 million-plus (pay-per-view buys). But, you could be closer to 20 and 25 (million pay-per-view buys), because what I would predict is both of their companies would start some kind of a digital arm,” said Sonnen.
“So all of a sudden, I believe that Twitter would be hosting pay-per-views, and I believe Facebook would, as well. Now you’re talking 25 million views here. That’s insane, what I just said. You could do that if the business shifted and changed a little bit. Sure you could,” he added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
