UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Vera is all psyched up to have a second encounter with Sean O’Malley, the newly crowned 135-pound champion.

Send me contract ok: Marlon Vera

Both Vera and O’Malley were part of the UFC 292 card last Saturday night at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. While “Chito” secured a unanimous decision win over Pedro Munhoz, O’Malley dethroned Aljamain Sterling to become the new Bantamweight champion.

“Sugar” ended Sterling’s streak of three successful defences by landing a powerful right hand right at the 51-second ark in the second round, which dropped “Funk Master”, followed by O’Malley coming up with an impressive ground and pound to secure the TKO. Following the win, O’Malley revealed that he has his sights set on avenging the loss against Vera in August 2020.

“I said going into this fight, it only takes one mistake against me. I don’t even know if that was a mistake — I’m just that f*cking good,” said O’Malley following the win. “This is just the beginning of the ‘Suga’ era. I’m running this sh*t until 2035, baby. Did ‘Chito’ win? Was it boring? Probably. I’ll whoop ‘Chito’s’ ass in December in Vegas at T-Mobile. Let’s f*cking go!” [H/T MMA Mania]

Immediately upon the rematch call from O’Malley, Vera took to Twitter to show his acceptance, as well as asking for the contract for the fight.

“Take a seat kids,” wrote Vera in a series of tweets. “💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 Send me contract ok”

Vera and O’Malley locked horns on the undercard of UFC 252 in August 2020, where Vera had secured a first round TKO victory over O’Malley. Three years since the fight, conversation regarding the rematch is finally picking up pace and with O’Malley being the champion, it also has the potential to become one of the biggest fights of the year.
