Marvin Vettori has strong beliefs that Israel Adesanya will once again fail to solve the Alex Pereira riddle at UFC 287, all while he himself targets to have a trilogy with the former divisional champion.

Vettori has locked horns with Adesanya twice in the last, having lost on both occasions. Moreover, their second clash at UFC 263 in June 2021 was when Adesanya was still the UFC Middleweight champion.

Adesanya, on the other hand, had his title reign come to an end against longtime rival Alex Pereira at UFC 281 last November, which was the third time the two faced off in a combat sport setting.

Now, ahead of the fourth fight between Pereira and Adesanya at UFC 287, Vettori gave his two cents on how the clash will turn out. Speaking to InsideFighting, “The Italian Dream” sincerely believes that “Poatan” will walk all over Izzy once again.

“Pereira, Pereira. Pereira is going to beat him again,” said Vettori.

Adesanya trilogy “would be a very different fight” says Marvin Vettori

The 3rd ranked 185-pounder at the moment, Vettori is edging close to having another shot at the Middleweight title. However, before he goes for gold once again, Vettori feels if Adesanya is unsuccessful at UFC 287, then a trilogy between the two would be the right step ahead, and he’s also confident on defeating “The Last Stylebender” this time.

“Yeah man, I think so. With the improvement in my striking that I will make and the improvement with the wrestling,” Vettori went on, “I will press the wrestling even more. I’m definitely way more, my top control is much sharper right now. I think I would do it for sure. I will be very confident walking into that fight, to be honest. It would be a very different fight, I promise you that.” [H/T]

Since the second loss to Adesanya, Vettori has won twice in his last three outings in the Octagon- against Paulo Costa at UFC Vegas 41 and most recently against Roman Dolidze at UFC 286 on 18th March. In between the wins, he had lost to Robert Whittaker at UFC Paris back in September 2022.
