Count UFC Hall of Famer Matt Serra among the list of people who want to see Jorge Masvidal get a title shot next.

Masvidal has garnered much attention after his historic knockout of Ben Askren this past June. The five second knockout has made him the focal point of mixed martial arts world. In the wake of such unprecedented success, he has made his claim very strong for a title shot next.

On an episode of UFC Unfiltered, Matt Serra said that Jorge Masvidal should be next in line for Kamaru Usman’s title.

“I’ll tell ya, he definitely deserves to fight for that,” Serra said. “I mean how can you deny that guy? Look what he’s done and look who he’s put away too. Talk about a guy that rises to the occasion. He goes over to London, he beats Darren Till. He beats ‘Cowboy’ in I believe it was ‘Cowboy’s’ hometown.”

Masvidal’s presence can be felt outside the Octagon as well. In an era where rivalries make good fights, “Gamebred” is the perfect fighter to start one. That’s why Serra feels there is a bit of similarity between McGregor and Masvidal.

“Masvidal, I’ll tell ya in a way he gets in people’s heads like Conor McGregor does. Before he fought ‘Cowboy,’ he was talking to him backstage before they walked out. It was awesome because he backs the sh*t up. He’s a real dude man. I like seeing real dudes in there.”

The champ Kamaru Usman is currently rehabilitating from a hernia surgery. Former interim champ Colby Covington was expected to face him next. However, he is currently preparing for a fight with Robbie Lawler at the moment. Dana White is yet to make the situation clear upon who receives the title shot next.
