Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is all set to return to the Octagon on July 17 against another top-ranked opponent in Yair Rodriguez.

The news was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Oh boy. Here we go. Five round main event, July 17. Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA vs. Yair Rodriguez (@panteraufc), per Dana White. The self proclaimed best boxer in MMA returns,” Okamoto tweeted.

This fight is going to be a striking delight for MMA fans as both of these fighters are the best strikers in the UFC’s featherweight division.

Max Holloway last fought on January 17 against Calvin Kattar at the Ethihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. It was a completely one-sided beatdown from the Hawaiian. Max Holloway landed 445 significant strikes in the bout and he attempted 746 strikes over a 25-minute fight.

Holloway threw a punch every 2-second over 25 minutes in the fight to show his striking dominance. The pace set by the former featherweight champion was unreal, to say the least.

Prior to the win over Calvin Kattar, Max Holloway was on a two-fight losing streak having lost in championship fights against Australia’s Alexander Volkanovksi at UFC 245 and UFC 251 respectively.

On the other hand, Yair Rodriguez last fought at UFC on ESPN 6, where he defeated Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision. Prior to that, he had defeated, Chan Sung Jung via a brutal spinning back elbow in the fifth round with just one second remaining on the clock.
