Maycee Barber is all set for her return to the Octagon, and in her mind has two names that she wants to face up next.
I love the exciting fights: Maycee Barber
Currently ranked 8th in the flyweight rankings, Maycee Barber has remained one of the top prospects in the UFC roster. While the 25-year-old already has sustained ups and downs in her career, Barber is currently on a five fight win streak and is edging closer to a potential title shot.
“The Future” had her last outing in the Octagon against Amanda Ribas at UFC Jacksonville last month, which she won via 2nd round TKO. It marked her fifth victory in a row since the back to back losses against Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso in January 2020 and February 2021, respectively.
As she is eyeing a contest for the 125-pound gold, Barber told MMA Junkie Radio about the two fighters she wants to face up next- the former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade or former UFC flyweight title challenger Lauren Murphy.
“We have several names in mind, and it will be interesting to see,” said Barber in the interview. “I like the Lauren Murphy fight, she’s ranked one above me. I like the idea of fighting Jessica Andrade, I like the idea of those kind of fights. They’re right there in the rankings. It really just depends on what the UFC thinks and what we want to do together. We’ll figure it out.”
“I love the exciting fights,” she went on. “If it’s a war, if it’s a brawl, I love that because it keeps the fans engaged, and you don’t get to see females do that very often. You don’t get to see that kind of fight. So I’m very honored and excited that I can bring that to the table to myself and my career, and the UFC.”
