Rising UFC women’s flyweight Maycee Barber has been climbing the division’s pecking order and has been enduring many hardships, both inside and outside of the Octagon.

‘The Future’ is currently on a three fight win streak in the UFC, having marked victories over Miranda Maverick, Montana De La Rosa and Jessica Eye in her last three outings. With an ambition to become the promotion’s youngest ever champion, Barber continues to become a fan-favourite among the MMA community.

All that being said, the path to her ambition isn’t going to be smooth, as the top flyweights are waiting to give Barber tough contests. But, the challenges don’t only lie in the cage, as the fighter revealed about a stalker who was after her for a couple of years, and has only been apprehended recently.

“I had a pretty serious stalker situation which went on about 2-3 years,” Barber said in a recent interview with MiddleEasy, “At the time when I missed weight, that was when he was not in jail and he was somewhere in Denver, I was fighting in Denver so it was super high-stress.”

“They had the SWAT after him, the security at the fight had a picture of him and knew this is the guy to not let in… The end of that story is he’s in jail now. He’s being sentenced,” she added.

Fortunately, the situation had a happy ending for Barber, as she looks forward to a decorated career in the UFC. She recently signed a new contract with the company and is preparing to meet Andrea Lee on March 25th.

However, Barber is not the only athlete we know of with problems with stalkers, former UFC welterweight and middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre is another victim of stalking, as the MMA legend revealed that his stalker would frequently visit his parents’ property in an effort to find him.

“To this day, I’ve got people sometimes trying to reach out to me, going to my parents’ house,” St-Pierre revealed back in March, “They knock at the door and say, ‘Hey, can we talk to Georges?‘ My parents are very good people. They are kind of, a little bit naive sometimes because they’re from the countryside. They don’t know sometimes how bad people can be. Like, stalkers and stuff. Some people are kind of obsessed.”
