The main event at UFC Vegas 106 in May will feature women’s flyweight contenders Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber.
Despite a number of recent concerns from fans and competitors regarding the UFC Apex, they have no immediate intentions to leave the venue. Originally, the promotion planned to visit Qatar in late May, but they will now be going back to Las Vegas for another event. There is currently no main event on the UFC Vegas 106 bill, and no fights are scheduled. But earlier today, that was different.
The UFC revealed on social media that Erin Blanchfield vs. Maycee Barber would be the main event on May 17. “Cold Blooded,” for her part, will go into the ring having defeated former champion Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision in November. The 25-year-old, who has a 12-1 professional record, is considered one of the sport’s top talents. She’ll now focus on Maycee Barber, who is on the rise.
When she rejoins the octagon in May, “The Future” will conclude a year-long hiatus. Last seen in action at UFC 299 in March of last year, Maycee Barber defeated former championship contender Katlyn Cerminara via unanimous decision. The 26-year-old, who has won six straight fights, will try to defeat Erin Blanchfield this summer to earn her first title shot.

As of now, there are no other bouts linked to UFC Vegas 106 in May. But in the weeks leading up to the event, there will be some major altercations. At UFC 315 in Montreal, the women’s flyweight title will be on the line. In the co-main event, reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko will meet the rising Manon Fiorot. ‘The Beast’ famously earned a title shot with a lopsided decision victory over Erin Blanchfield last March in Atlantic City.
Alexa Grasso, a former women’s flyweight champion, is competing on the undercard of UFC 315. Since losing to Valentina Shevchenko in their trilogy battle in September, the Mexican boxer has not been spotted in action. She intends to defeat Natalia Silva upon her comeback in order to earn another opportunity at the crown. The Brazilian, who last defeated Jessica Andrade in September, will go into the fight on a 12-fight winning streak.
But the victor of Maycee Barber vs. Erin Blanchfield could also easily compete for gold. In any case, a thrilling summer is now in store for the UFC’s most intriguing women’s division.
