What’s a Conor McGregor fight without some good ol trash talk?

McGregor has officially started his mind games as he’s slated to much his much anticipated return at UFC 246 on January 18.

Contrary to his other girls fights, McGregor has been fairly respectful to his opponent, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Despite having a past, a small spat at a press conference around four ago, McGregor had the buildup pretty austere. However McGregor ended his silence with a small message on Instagram.

‘The Notorious’ took to, Instagram with a caption, ‘First one to shoot a cowb*tch!’. Obviously taking a jab at Cerrone’s nickname of ‘Cowboy’. (via Instagram):

Added to his skills, trash talk has been an integral part of McGregor’s fights. Not only does it turn more heads towards his fights but also provoke an emotional reaction from his opponents which cost them the fight.

This time however the double champ has incorporated more of a humble approach as he seems hungry as ever to make his return. McGregor will his much anticipated return after a 15 month hiatus since his submission loss against champion Kharab Nurmagomedov.

McGregor finds himself in a ‘high risk, high reward’ kind of situation as the fight will be at welterweight. Cowboy, known as a big lightweight, has already fought at welterweight and will definitely have a size advantage. McGregor however believes his skills will prevail as he carries confidence from his win against Nate Diaz in their second fight which was also at welterweight.

McGregor also has a variety of options at 170 with the UFC welterweight division blooming than ever. A win against Cerrone can further open gates for interesting bouts against cash crops like Jorge Masvidal. A win can also set up an inevitable rematch against champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
