In a recent episode of his YouTube channel, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated welterweight clash between Ian Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310. Bisping believes that the key to the fight will be whether Garry can stop Rakhmonov’s takedowns.
“You’ve got to have a lot of respect for Ian Garry. He didn’t have to take this fight, but can he stop the takedown?” Bisping said. Both fighters are undefeated, with Garry boasting a 15-0 record and Rakhmonov an impressive 18-0 record, making this bout a title eliminator for the welterweight division.
Bisping pointed out that Rakhmonov, known for his relentless pressure and submission skills, has a 100% finish rate in his UFC career. “If Ian Garry can’t stop the takedown, he will get finished, and that is no disrespect to Ian Garry,” Bisping added.
Garry, who last fought in June and secured a unanimous decision victory over Michael “Venom” Page, will need to use his reach, movement, and striking skills to keep Rakhmonov at bay. “He’s got to keep Shavkat Rakhmonov off him. If he can’t stop the takedown, he will get finished,” Bisping emphasized.

The former middleweight champion also highlighted that while Garry’s path to victory involves maintaining his range and sticking and moving, it might not be the most crowd-pleasing strategy. “The crowd will boo, but who cares about the crowd? Winning is all that matters,” Bisping said.
As the fight approaches, both fighters are aware of the stakes. Garry has expressed his confidence, stating, “I will take his 0 and I will take that belt.” Meanwhile, Rakhmonov is prepared to showcase his skills and continue his undefeated streak.
