Former Bellator lightweight champion and current UFC contender Michael Chandler has praised former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

The former Bellator star has also expressed interest in fighting Conor McGregor later in the winter.

Michael Chandler made his UFC debut in a spectacular fashion on the undercard of Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 which took place earlier this year. In that fight, he took on Dan Hooker and knocked him out in the first round.

That knockout win elevated his stardom and now he is fighting Charles Oliveira for the vacant UFC lightweight title fight at UFC 262 taking place on May 15 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Last week, Conor McGregor floated the idea of the McGregor belt and said that the belt should have an emerald curved on it.

I feel it’s time to break out this baby for the next fight,” the former champ wrote on Twitter. “I ask the UFC to please create The McGregor Belt. I suggest rose gold and rubies. Think patek rare. Or yellow gold and emeralds possibly. Might be nice also. I’m open to design suggestions. Let’s link up UFC #TheMcGregorBelt.”
