Miesha Tate, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, is all set to make her comeback to 135 pounds this 3rd June, taking on Mayra Bueno Silva, the 10th ranked fighter in the division.
The initial report of the fight was made by Dama de Ferro MMA, followed by multiple confirmations to MMA Fighting by those in the know. However in a post on Instagram, Tate called out Silva for a May fight, but they will be locking horns a month afterwards.
As of now, the Miesha Tate vs. Mayra Bueno Silva bantamweight bout is the only announced fight at UFC Fight Night 226. The event is yet to be officially confirmed by the promotion, and a venue is still not made official.
The fight will see “Cupcake” returning to her old division after a failed attempt at breaking into the Flyweight division, in her most recent defeat against Lauren Murphy at UFC on ABC 3 in July last year.
The 36-year-old has marked only one win in her last five bouts, which was her comeback fight after five years of hiatus, against Marion Reneau at UFC Vegas 31 in July 2021.
A former Batalha MMA Bantamweight Champion, Silva is currently on a three fight win streak in the UFC, and her latest triumph in the Octagon saw her clinching a 2nd round submission win over Lina Länsberg at UFC Vegas 69 last month.
