Mike Breeden, a lightweight fighter in the UFC, is no longer competing in the promotion as he has been released. He defeated Anshul Jubli, an Indian sensation, at UFC 294. The American is unsigned despite becoming somewhat of a celebrity after his thrilling knockout victory over an unbeaten Jubli.
Last month in Abu Dhabi, Breeden and Jubli fought in UFC 294’s preliminary round. But for the highly regarded Jubli, things did not go as planned, as he lost via third-round knockout.
Mike Breeden won’t get a contract extension with the UFC
On October 21, Breeden stepped into the octagon with a chip on his shoulders. The 34-year-old was expected to be thoroughly defeated by the unbeaten Indian fighter as Anshul was a heavy favorite amongst oddsmakers to win the fight. Having lost his previous three UFC fights, Breeden was, in a sense, fighting for his career. And it paid off as he unexpectedly produced a fantastic knockout in the third round after having lost the first two rounds.
