Platinum Mike Perry has once again faced defeat by an up and comer fighter and not just a loss but a dominant performance was put on by Daniel Rodriguez.
In the welterweight main card opener of UFC Vegas 23, Perry lost a one-sided unanimous decision to Daniel Rodriguez. Perry has now lost two straight, and four of his last five after Rodriguez swept the scorecards, including a 30-26 card from Judge Tony Weeks. Mike Perry was left wondering where things went wrong in the fight in which he got brutally dominated by his opponent and this wasn’t the first time. In his recent few performances, Mike didn’t just lose but his opponent dominated him.
Mike Perry reacts to his recent performances
In the past “Platinum” has started strong and even rallied during losing efforts to try and score a Hail Mary knockout. This past Saturday, Rodriguez just punched Perry in the face for the majority of the fight. After the fight, Perry took to Instagram to react to his performance and his future.
“I used to be great,” Perry stated. “I don’t know what happened. I have one fight left on my contract. I’ll train hard, I’ll give it my all for my family. Whatever I have to do to give them a better life. I’ll bleed every day for them if I have to.”
The 29-year-old competitor released a post-fight statement on Instagram, revealing he has one fight left on his UFC contract. Despite the sting of the loss, he intends to fight on for his loved ones.

Although the Liverpool native has had his differences with ‘Platinum’ in the past, he showed nothing but respect for Perry this afternoon. ‘The Gorilla’ extended the following advice and offer to Perry.
“Got so much time & respect for Perry But here is the main important factor for me No team, NO FOUNDATIONS!!! You need a good solid team around you, who are willing to go to great lengths with you. And then your coach, I am lucky enough to not just have a coach but as I believe a true master of all the arts. & as humble and deadly as they come!!”
Darren Till continued: “If Perry fancies coming here for a few months I would more than be willing to accommodate him and his family and I’m sure my team would feel the same way Hope whatever he chooses in life he puts him & family 1st.”
Perry’s octagon record now sits at 7-8 following Saturday’s loss as he was out landed 129 to 61 in significant strikes according to UFC Stats—90 of Rodriguez’s shots were to the head, leaving Perry bloodied and battered over 15 minutes.
After losing two straight in 2019, Perry was able to get back in the win column at UFC on ESPN 12 this past June where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Mickey Gall. “Platinum” returned in November where he was on the wrong end of a decision to Tim Means.
