The CEO of the highly active Triller Fight Club has made a shocking statement saying that Mike Tyson is scared to fight his former opponent Evander Holyfield. In recent times lots of legendary fighters have been making their way back to the ring. Triller has been the chief promoter of such legendary fights and is also giving some retired fighters a chance to showcase their skillsets and get paid some huge money. Recently, Mike Tyson came out of retirement to fight fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. The duo fought toe-to-toe for 8 rounds and the fight was declared a draw.
Now just like Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield will be fighting under Triller’s banner and will be fighting against former UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort. Belfort was previously scheduled to face Oscar De La Hoya but unfortunately, Oscar had to pull out of the fight as he tested positive for Covid. Triller promotions immediately went looking for the next best possible options and then they landed on Evander. Now both these combat sports legends are returning to the ring against Vitor Belfort in the main event of Triller Fight Club Legends 2 on Saturday in Florida.
Mike Tyson is Scared of Evander Holyfield
Now according to the statements made by the CEO of triller promotions Ryan Kavanaugh, Mike Tyson is ready to fight again under the organization but doesn’t want to trade hands with Evander Holyfield. On November 9, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tyson faced Holyfield in a title fight, Mike lost the fight in the 11th round by TKO. The duo faced each other in a rematch but Tyson was disqualified for the famous ear-biting incident.
“We know he is trying to stage a fight with Lennox Lewis,” Kavanaugh said about Tyson to Sky Sports. “We have been told that he is scared to fight Evander. There has been back and forth hoopla, there is a massive payday ready for Mike to fight on Thanksgiving. A massive payday, one of his biggest. But we can’t seem to push it along. Now I have heard, from a number of reliable sources, that Mike is too scared. He thinks Evander would knock him out.”
There is no confirmation given by Tyson on these comments which at the moment feel like rumors. It feels like the money for the fight may be the real convener as this may be a huge event for the organization to host and both the fighters might just want to get the numbers right.
“We have an offer out to Mike,” Kavanaugh said about Tyson fighting Holyfield again.
All the fight fans would be hoping that they would get to see this trilogy fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield one day. Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort will be fighting each other on September 11 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Internet pay-per-view platform FITE.tv will broadcast the event.
