Mixed Martial Artist and aspiring actor, Amitesh Chaubey, has been apprehended by the Haryana Special Task Force for allegedly kidnapping a doctor. According to the police, the accused wanted the money to be able to fund his dream movie. Chaubey and four other members of the Joginder Panchi Jatan gang were arrested by the task force.
Chaubey is a professional MMA fighter who has fought in the Super Fight League (SFL) and ONE Championship.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the Joginder Panchi Jatan gang kidnapped the 27-year-old doctor on the 16th of March, who was returning home after a party. When he stopped to relieve himself near a liquor vend, he was forced to enter his car at gunpoint. The father of the victim, worried about his son, complained to the police this Tuesday night.
The father of the victim apparently received a Whatsapp call from his son’s phone at 2 AM on the 16th of March, whereupon the gang demanded ₹55 lakh.
“I received a WhatsApp call from my son’s mobile number on March 16 at 2am demanding ₹55 lakh. The accused asked me to deliver ₹55 lakh near Sonepat at 11pm.”
The father of the victim is also a doctor and runs private hospitals in Rewari and Gurugram. The ransom was paid on the 17th of March and the victim was released.
K.K. Rao the inspector general of police spoke on the matter, revealing that the ransom amount had been recovered. The victim’s car was recovered from Nehru Place in Delhi.
“The gang was arrested from different locations. It is involved in several cases and Chaubey was part of the gang.”
Amitesh Chaubey has previously participated in the Super Boxing League. He was also part of Super Fight League and ONE Championship. The highlight moment in his career was his 9 second KO of James Ramesh Solomon in 2015.
He has also been a part of a Bhojpuri film, and recently directed a short film himself. According to the police, Chaubey was going to use the money to make a big film, where he would be the lead.
