Varun Sanyal shares his thoughts on Indian MMA coaches
Speaking on The Sham Sharma Podcast, Varun Sanyal named some reputed MMA coaches in India. He went on to name Siddhart Singh and Ashwin Hoon.
“For example Siddhart Singh and Ashwin Hoon. They’re definitely MMA coaches. For example Siddhart Singh is Anshul Jubli’s coach right? He’s a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu if I’m not wrong. He has like 15 years of Muay Tha experience and of course, he’s taken you know a kid from Uttarakhand and he’s taken him to the UFC. So he obviously knows what he’s doing.”
He then spoke about Ashwin Hoon. Sanyal said: “He’s in Warriors Cove in Delhi. He’s actually who I train under whenever I’m out there. He’s very good like you know he’s a good Brown Belt, he’s got good knowledge.”
He then added:
“There’s also I don’t know if he’s on the panelist list but his name is Mohit Chaul. He’s also very good he’s a Purple Belt, he’s got some striking experience himself, runs the combat lab out in Delhi. So yeah there are definitely guys out there who uh well on this panel as well as in India in general who have MMA experience now and are now starting to just bring back that Knowledge from overseas.”
Later during the podcast, Varun Sanyal also talked about world-class Indian wrestlers who haven’t made the cut to the Indian contingent and have gone separate ways pursuing stereotypical jobs.
