Why he took the offer of a new promotion:

“The main factor for me was that I was given an opportunity to gain more fight experience and to further improve myself and since that’s me fighting in the main event for the first time that gave me a lot of encouragement.”

About his opponent and headlining the fight night

“It was a great motivation for me to fight in a main even and too in a city where I had spent 5 years of my childhood in Boarding. I have stayed in the city for 5 years and there are lot of memories in this city which would be in my memory for a lifetime. [As for my opponent] I do not know him [Bishwamitra] personally. I have been told about his fight records by my teammates earlier… that’s all that I know about him.”

Preparations with Team Relentless:

“Preparation for my fight has been going really well as lot of teammates have upcoming fights. And we now have bunch of guys who are in great shape to kick each other’s asses, to push each other to prove every day. Due to this factor the training has got more intense which in return improves my game quicker.”

Future plans and X1 Flyweight title:

“I am always looking for challenges. Being a titleholder in a different promotion has its own challenges and I am going to work towards improving myself worthy for title shot. Once the fight is over, I would be completely just focused on my Grappling GI. I have been chosen to represent India in BJJ – 62kg weight category. Hopefully the IOA grants us permission to compete in Japan,”

Navdeep concluded the interview by saying that the fans can expect a good fight. Also, he added that he will be looking for a finish rather than leaving it to the judges.
