Last night’s dual-branded Backlash pay-per-view aired live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event wasn’t received well by the audience due to some mis-bookings and visible frustrations were expressed.

The show saw Roman Reigns take on Samoa Joe as its Main Event

Pre-Show Kick-off Match: 

  • Ruby Riott def. Bayley via pinfall

The Architect Triumphs Over the A-Lister:

  • Seth Rollins def. The Miz via pinfall to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
  • This was later called the match of the night as both the performers put one hell of a performance.

Nia Jax def. Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship via pinfall. (Alexa Bliss suffered a shoulder injury during the match.)

Jeff Hardy def. Randy Orton via pinfall to retain the WWE United States Championship. 

  • Elias came out to the ring to deliver a musical performance.
  • However, before he could begin, he was interrupted by the New Day who wished to “Walk with Elias”.
  • Elias rubbed them off by saying that he is a solo act.
  • He was then interrupted by Aiden English and Rusev.
  • English dissed Elias in a song and Rusev called him a “Bootleg Bob Dylan”.
  • Elias managed to get over that interruption and finally went back to put up his performance.
  • The music hit and out came No Way Jose whose congo line consisted of Titus Worldwide and Breezango.
  • Elias who was clearly frustrated by these continued interruptions attempted to finish his song one last time.
  • However, Bobby Roode’s music hit and he came out of nowhere and landed a Glorious DDT on the Drifter to end the segment.

Daniel Bryan def. Big Cass via Submission. After the match, Big Cass attacked Daniel Bryan at ringside.

Carmella def. Charlotte Flair via pinfall to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. 

WWE Champion AJ Styles retained over Shinsuke Nakamura after their match ended in a double countout. 

Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley def. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn via pinfall. 

Roman Reigns def. Samoa Joe via pinfall.
