MMA India’s SmackDown Round-up: 01/05/2018

Last night’s episode of SmackDown LIVE aired from the Bell Centre in Montreal, QC. This episode saw the final confrontation between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura before their clash at Backlash and a solid six-woman tag team Main Event.

Lynch, Asuka and Charlotte triumphed against Carmella and the IIconics

The Viper and The Enigma rekindle their old rivalry: 

  • The show opened with a Miz TV segment with Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton as the guests.
  • The Miz tried to provoke both parties into attacking each other but failed miserably.
  • Shelton Benjamin interrupted the segment and got himself involved.
  • A brawl broke out and a tag team match was made between the faces and the heels.
  • Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton def. Shelton Benjamin and The Miz via pinfall.
  • After the match, Orton hit an RKO out of nowhere on Jeff Hardy.

It was announced that Daniel Bryan is not cleared to compete due to a chest infection. 

Lana joins Rusev Day?:

  • Lana appeared in a backstage segment wearing a Rusev Day shirt and interacted with her husband Rusev and Aiden English.
  • Lana claimed that something has been holding Rusev back and hinted that it was Aiden English.

Big Cass plays mind games with Daniel Bryan: 

  • Big Cass cut a promo on his opponent at Backlash, Daniel Bryan.
  • Cass called out Daniel Bryan to come and face him in the ring and out came a fake Daniel Bryan.
  • Cass beat up this fake Daniel Bryan and had to be stopped by officials.

The Destroyer declares his ambition to get the WWE Championship:

  • AJ Styles came to the ring to address Shinsuke Nakamura’s demand for an apology.
  • Styles denied apologizing to Nakamura and instead declared that he will batter the Artist come Sunday at Backlash.
  • Styles was interrupted by Samoa Joe who cut a promo on him.
  • Joe declared that he is coming from the WWE Championship after he is done putting Roman Reigns to sleep.
  • Nakamura’s music hit and Joe got ready to brawl but there was no one on the ramp.
  • Suddenly the cameras went to the ring and Nakamura delivered another low blow to Styles.

Xavier Woods def. Sheamus via pinfall. 

The Three Woman Power Trip: 

  • Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Asuka def. Billie Kay, Peyton Royce and WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella.
  • Asuka got the victory for her team when she made Peyton Royce tap out to the Asuka Lock.
