Welcome to the MMA India show’s weekly MMA round up. We take a look at the biggest stories of the past week, which includes big names like Joe Rogan, Robert Whittaker, Georges St-Pierre, Arianny Celeste etc.
The month of July was highly entertaining as the entirety of the UFC fights took place at the Yas Islands in Abu Dhabi. The middle eastern country hosted four action-packed fight cards including the blockbuster UFC 251 card that saw breaking ESPN+’ PPV records.
Cody Garbrandt keen on fighting Figueiredo at flyweight
Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is keen on fighting the newly crowned flyweight Deiveson Figueiredo by dropping down in weight class.
The flyweight division seems to be short of contenders as well. Alexandre Pantoja who was considered the next line suffered a decision loss against Askar Askarov this weekend, which halted his title shot. Fighters like Brandon Moreno and Alex Perez have put together impressive winning streaks, however, aren’t big names to boost PPV buys.

McGregor plans 180 km water voyage for charity
Irish superstar Conor McGregor will be taking part in a charity event later this year. He will be amongst the athletes taking part in a 180km water voyage with Princess Charlene of Monaco.
Conor McGregor was present in Monaco along with his girlfriend Dee Devlin and his kids last week. He took part in a water bike race. In a highly competitive race, the Irish superstar beat Princess Charlene.

George St-Pierre described Khabib as the perfect fighter
Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has described Khabib Nurmagomedov as the perfect fighter in an interview with MMATrufan. In the interview, he stated that he wanted to be the first fighter to defeat the Russian.
Khabib was very exciting for me because, for a fighter, a fighter doesn’t think like a normal person.”, said GSP. “A fighter always wants to fight a guy who seems invincible, a guy who seems like the perfect fighter, who is unbeatable. He has an aura of invincibility. So, that means if I do it I’ll be the first to have ever done it.

Why Joe Rogan isn’t present on UFC 4?
UFC commentator and longtime voice of the company Joe Rogan won’t be a part of EA’s UFC 4 commentary team.
UFC 4’s Creative Director Brian Hayes told GameSpot in an interview that Joe Rogan hated seating in a booth for hours and reading lines.
While it may come as a disappointment to many, but Joe Rogan simply hates doing voiceovers for the games.

Floyd Mayweather willing to rematch Conor McGregor
Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr is willing to come out of retirement again to rematch former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match.
It was one of the highest-selling PPV in the history of sports generating over half a billion dollars in revenue.
The fight also held the record for the second-highest gate of all time at $55,414,865.79.
In that fight, Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor via technical knockout in the tenth round. It was a fairly easy assignment for then 40-year old, Floyd Mayweather.

Arianny Celeste strips naked for her baby’s gender reveal
Arianny Celeste, who is one of the most popular octagon girls of the UFC announced her pregnancy earlier this month. Celeste is also the longest-serving Octagon girl in the organisation.
She announced her pregnancy on social media and is having a baby with her boyfriend Taylor King.
She recently stripped for off for her gender reveal and announced that she is having a baby boy. She is due for September later this year.

Robert Whittaker defeats Darren Till at Fight Island
Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker managed to put his name back in the win column by defeating Darren Till via unanimous decision.
This was a must-win fight for Whittaker, who lost his title last year to Israel Adesanya via TKO in the second round.
With this win, he will be looking to regain his middleweight title back.
