Welcome to the MMA India show’s weekly MMA round up. We take a look at the biggest stories of the past week, which includes big names like Rahul Raju, Roshan Mainam, Cody Garbrandt, Usman Nurmagomedov etc.

Rahul K Raju and Roshan Mainam to fight at ONE Championship on Oct 9

Kicking off the ONE Championship event in Bangkok this week is a flyweight mixed martial arts fight between Indian Wrestling Champion Roshan Mainam and Hefei Flyweight Tournament Champion Liu Peng Shuai.

Mainam will try to build off of an impressive debut win over Khon Sichan in November 2019, while Liu will try to get his second consecutive victory.

Another Indian fighter, Rahul K Raju had successfully held on to his winning ways which started with his submission victory over Richard Corminal at Enter the Dragon in March this year. Before that, he had three back to back losses.

In Singapore, Raju began training at Juggernaut Fight Club in 2013 and soon competed in various combat sports as an amateur before switching his focus to competing professionally in the cage. He made his debut in February 2016 with a submission win, running up an impressive record along the way by competing in the Singapore Fighting Championships.

Dana White suggests that Jon Jones vs Adesanya is the fight to make

One of the biggest fights to make in combat sports today is a superfight between current middleweight titleholder Israel Adesanya and former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the grudge match will be booked.

In a brief interview with UFC Arabia, Dana White said that it’s all up to Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya, whether they want to make the highly-anticipated fight happen or not.

Cody Garbrandt out of UFC 255 fight against Deiveson Figueiredo

Cody Garbrandt’s quest to win the UFC flyweight championship will have to wait.

Garbrandt on Friday confirmed an initial report by Combate that he is out of a planned UFC 255 headliner opposite flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo. He indicated that he had torn a biceps muscle last week.

Though Garbrandt told the UFC he could be ready to fight by the end of December, the promotion opted to replace him and give No. 4 ranked flyweight Alex Perez the shot.

Usman Nurmagomedov signs with Bellator

The undefeated Dagestani Usman Nurmagomedov, who is the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov has signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA.

Usman Nurmagomedov is 11-0 since turning pro in 2017. Ten of his 11 victories have come via stoppage. He is considered a major prospect in mixed martial arts. Bellator officials said he will compete in the promotion’s lightweight division and is expected to debut in December or January.

Floyd Mayweather reveals price for Conor McGregor rematch!

Multiple time champ and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather revealed his price for a potential rematch against former double champ and arch-rival Conor McGregor.

McGregor and Mayweather met in the boxing ring for the historic money fight back in 2017. Mayweather showcased his boxing process by defeating McGregor via tenth-round TKO improving to 50-0.

“IF I COULD PICK AN EASY $300 MILLION, ABSOLUTELY”, he said. “SAME WAY, SAME RESULTS.”

UFC 253 featuring Adesanya and Costa sells 700,000 PPV buys globally

UFC 253 card featuring UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa sold 700,000 PPV buys globally.

This would be the third biggest PPV of the year with UFC 251 featuring Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman topping the chart with 1.3 Million buys. UFC 246 featuring Conor McGregor’s return against Donald Cerrone in January earlier this year sold 1 Million buys.

The news was first reported by Yahoo Sports and then confirmed by Mike Coppinger of The Athletic.
