A potential fight in England between MMA superstar Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley has long been teased and MMA fans all around the globe have always been crazy about the idea of the two striking sensations going head-to-head. However, in a recent interview, Page talked about Daley potentially avoiding a fight against him and also revealed that he has lost interest in a fight against him.
Page recently spoke to The Telegraph and verbally slammed Daley for not accepting a fight against him and instead fighting Jon Fitch. He further talked about how Daley has no right to complain about Jon Fitch using wrestling to defeat him. Here’s what he had to say:
That looked like self-harm. It looked like someone throwing a strop. I lost respect for that man a long time ago and I think many people have lost respect for him, they just got there late. I find what he did very stupid in the sense you chose to fight a wrestler and then complained about him wrestling. Jon Fitch has been Jon Fitch for ten years. He hasn’t changed his style. It’s not like he has multiple different game plans, he has one game plan. Before this, he was bragging about having two contracts in front of him. One was me and one was Jon Fitch. Mine was in London and he decided go two weeks before in America against a wrestler and then complain about being wrestled. I just find his whole decision-making widely strange. But at the same time, in terms of fighting him I don’t have that fire anymore. I find him equally sad and entertaining. He’s just sabotaging any kind of name he ever had.
It should have been. It would’ve been. I’m just glad it’s been made clear by (Bellator CEO) Scott Coker himself is the only reason it didn’t happen is because Paul Daley decided for it not to happen. For someone who mentions my name so much, he’s either a fan or hated me and didn’t want to fight me. I’ve made it clear, my stance from the beginning has never changed. I found what he said in an interview about me disrespectful and the best way for us to deal with that is to fight. It’s as simple as that. After that we can shake hands and be on our way. But he didn’t want that to happen, for whatever reason. Everyone can speculate to why. It’s quite sad really. He’s ruined his own name.
I genuinely don’t care. I have to be honest, there’s no fire anyone.
