Former Bellator, Pancrase and Sengoku fighter Marlon Sandro is currently in trouble in Brazil on possible charges of attempted murder and domestic abuse, MMA Fighting reports.
The victim is his fiance, Tayssa Wuensche.
The 40-year old MMA veteran is said to have injured her arm, choked her out and continued kicking and punching her after she regained consciousness on December 14th and doubled up with another offence on February 9th, breaking and entering into her house, suffocating her with a pillow and threatening to kill her.
both incidents were brought to the attention of the Brazilian authorities. Sandro is awaiting a court date so he can be tried for his crimes.
In a statement released on Tuesday this week, Sando had this to say.
Guys, I came here to ask you a chance to work. I’m unemployed, I need to work, I need to fight, and I’m asking you all an opportunity. I have no problem leaving the country, traveling, working. I’m resolving my problems in justice.
I know I’ve failed, I know I made a mistake, but I think that every human being has the right to redeem himself and try to fix things in life.
I know I’m a good citizen. I know I failed, I know I made a mistake, but I know that I have a lot more to fix and get better.
Sandro was kicked out of popular Brazilian gym Nova Uniao in December, presumably after reports of his heinous actions against his fiance surfaced.
If convicted, the 40-year old is expected to serve up to 3 years of jail time.
Violence outside the cage, especially in the form of domestic abuse, is something that is highly frowned upon in the world of MMA.
We hope that Marlon Santos is punished appropriately and that his fiance Tayssa Wuensche gets a measure of justice for her suffering.
