Former UFC veteran and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist Rousimar Palhares has been a topic of discussion lately.

Palhares (19-9-1 MMA) currently signed under Fight Nights Global organization. However the heel hook specialist missed weight and suffered a first round KO in his last fight. After a dreadful weight cut for that fight, Palhares has decided to take a small break from MMA and is now focusing on a grappling match against rising BJJ sensation Craig Jones at KASAI Pro 3.
Preparing for the fight, Palhares posted a picture on Instagram and he looks an absolute tank. Palhares with a new haircut, moustache and with his characteristic more than ever stocky built looks straight out of the comic book Teenaje Mutant Ninja Turtles. (via Twitter):

”I felt really bad cutting weight last time,” Palhares said. “I can’t make that weight anymore. I almost died. I can’t do it. I missed weight, I almost died, had to be medicated. I look like a crackhead at 170, I reached my limit. That was the last time I cut that much of weight. I’m done. No more. I might die, something can happen.
”I thought about pulling out of the fight but I needed the money. What can I do? I have a family, man. When you have family there’s no coming back. I have bills to pay.”
Palhares has had a history of failed drug tests and the MMA community is accusing him this time around as well, however Palhares is not allowing that to bother him.
“People say whatever they want to try to diminish your work, so that doesn’t bother me at all.”
Palhares says he currently weighs 212 pounds and will compete at Middleweight next time around.
