Ever since Chuck Liddell announced that he is coming out of retirement, rumours have been floating around about his potential opponent. While Liddell drew some friction with Jon Jones, the fight is unlikely to happen anytime soon due to various reasons.

On the other hand, a trilogy fight with Tito Ortiz is more likely to materialize. Both Liddell and Ortiz have been vocal about the possibility and in a recent interview with TMZ, Ortiz opened up further about the fight.

Ortiz said that he is feeling healthy at the moment and said that the trilogy fight with Liddell will be the ‘hugest’ fight in MMA history.

“I feel healthy. I’m the million dollar man. Let’s make a couple more million kicking Chuck Liddell’s ass. This is gonna build. It’s gonna be the hugest fight in MMA history. Watch and see,” Ortiz noted.

He also said that it’s the fight that all the fans wanted to see and then went on to add that they are working to finalize the fight for October or November.

The history

Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell have a long history that dates back to 2004 when they first faced off. The fight happened at UFC 47 and it was Liddell that came out on top via a second-round KO victory. A couple of years later, the duo fought again in 2006 at UFC 66. Liddell was the winner in the second outing as well as he finished Ortiz in the third round with punches.

Ortiz currently holds a professional record of 19-12 to his name and is coming off a huge win against Chael Sonnen in 2017. Liddell, meanwhile, is 21-8 in his career and has not fought since 2010. Prior to his retirement, he was on a three-fight losing streak. His last win came against Wanderlei Silva back at UFC 79.
