A massive showdown has been confirmed for ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri.
Reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nabil Anane will make his first title defense against former champ and reigning bantamweight kickboxing king Jonathan Haggerty on 16 November at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
The 21-year-old Algerian-Thai will face his biggest test yet when he puts his crown on the line against the 28-year-old British striker who previously ruled the bantamweight Muay Thai division.
Anane’s rise to glory has been nothing short of remarkable since making his ONE debut at just 19 years old.
Despite losing his promotional bow to Superlek Kiatmoo9, the towering 6-foot-4 fighter bounced back with five consecutive victories to earn an interim title shot.
His path to gold culminated at ONE 170 in January this year when he knocked out Scottish fighter Nico Carrillo to capture the interim title. The young fighter completed his redemption story at ONE 172 in March, defeating Superlek convincingly after the then-champion missed weight and was stripped of his title.
Later in June, Anane was promoted to undisputed champion status.
Haggerty enters this contest seeking redemption after losing his bantamweight Muay Thai title to Superlek via first-round knockout in September 2024.
The London-based fighter brings impressive credentials as the current ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion and former flyweight Muay Thai titleholder.
The British striker’s resume includes victories over eight-time ONE World Champion Nong-O Hama for the bantamweight Muay Thai title, before defeating ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Fabricio Andrade to capture the kickboxing crown and achieve two-sport king status.
This title fight adds another layer of excitement to an already loaded ONE 173 card, promising fireworks between two of the bantamweight division’s most dangerous strikers in Tokyo.
