UFC Superstar Nate Diaz and former two-time lightweight title challenger Dustin Poirier have hinted towards a potential fight in 2022. Dustin Poirier recently fought for his second title shot against the current lightweight champion of the UFC, Charles Oliveira. The fight was going well for Poirier in the first round but he got dominated on the ground in the second round and was submitted in the 3rd round of the fight at UFC 269. This was his second title fight as he lost the first title fight against then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Now after losing to Charles Oliveira, It seems like Dustin Poirier has a new challenge in front of him as he exchanges words with Nate Diaz on Twitter.
Both @NateDiaz209 and @DustinPoirier are legitimately serious about fighting each other next month, I’m told. Both would accept the fight right away for January.

Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier will finally face each other
Two of the biggest UFC stars Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier have again ignited the competitive spark between them and are hinting towards a potential fight in the welterweight division. The duo was previously scheduled to face each other at UFC 230. It was announced on August 3, 2018, that Nate Diaz was going to return on November 3 against Dustin Poirier in a lightweight battle. The fight was later scrapped off from the card as Dustin Poirier pulled out due to an injury. The duo then went to their separate paths but always kept the rivalry between them alive as they regularly engaged on Twitter.
Nate Diaz then finally made his return at UFC 241. He faced Anthony Pettis at welterweight and won the fight by unanimous decision. He then went on to fight Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title. He lost that fight via technical knockout via doctor stoppage.
In his last fight, Nate fought the top welterweight contender Leon Edwards and lost the fight via decision. But he had an amazing moment in the last round of the fight as he nearly finished Edwards.
Dustin Poirier on the other hand is at the top of the lightweight division. He recently scored back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor. He was very close to achieving his dream of becoming the undisputed lightweight champion but unfortunately was defeated by the current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. The fight between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier makes perfect sense as both these fighters are at the tail end of their careers and they will be looking to make as much money as possible in their finals UFC fights.
If the fight gets finalized for January then we might see them as part of the UFC 270 event. UFC 270 will take place on January 22, 2022, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card is going to be headlined by the heavyweight championship matchup between the champion Francis Ngannou and the interim champion Ciryl Gane.
